sniff...

I'm Sick. Being sick sucks. Let's just hope and pray that little Miles stays well. So far, so good.

Here's some blue eyes to tide you over until we get some more pics up.

Blast from the past...

John went to bed early with a bad headache, so that meant I got to hop on his computer and "play." I found some early pics of Miles and just cant' believe how TINY he was.

So for a little stroll down memory lane, here's Miles at 2 weeks.

For those of you tuning in to hear what's new with Miles in the present, he is vocalizing like crazy! He was so chatty tonight and was making all sorts of new sounds. He's grabbing more and more for things and starting to work on passing things from one hand to another. He loves it when I sing to him (bless him) and he is getting close to rolling over. He is still sleeping through the night, waking up cheerful and taking naps during the day. I'm really starting to get in the groove of feeling more normal, which probably has a lot to do with sleep and him taking more naps during the day. I'm fitting into my pre-baby clothes, which is a huge relief, probably mostly due to the fact that I have no time to shop for new clothes!

Looking back at the two week old Miles, I realize that it's not only the little guy who has come a lonnnng way in the past few months. I am feeling worlds better than those foggy snowed in days when he was just born. (I bet John would agree with me as well.) Those were precious days, but the fun is really just beginning and I much prefer life where I'm off painkillers and not bogged down with mastitis or a post-op hematoma. He's just so much fun right now too. It's such an exciting time to see him experience everything for the first time. So as much as the two week old baby Miles was just as sweet as can be, I'm not going to pine for the past, i'm just going to enjoy him the way he is now. If looking through photos tonight has taught me anything, it's how fast it all goes.

blog catch up...

Miles has discovered his tongue and loves showing it off. It's been his favorite thing to do lately and has been cracking us up. He's a pretty expressive little guy, as you can see here. (Click on photo to view larger if you wish.)

Here's Miles after one of our long walks last week. It's hilarious to see him fall asleep in the carrier because he's like a rag doll with his arms and legs swinging when John walks. BTW, this hat was purchased by Grandma long before we knew he was going to be a boy. It's a perfect hat for walks though because it covers his ears, so for now, he gets to wear a girlie hat with ducks and flowers on it, poor guy.

My dad stops by once a week or so to get a Miles fix. Miles seems to be starting to prefer either me or John, so he has been starting to cry when other people hold him, which really isn't that much fun. Some people might call it being spoiled, but I say it's just another part of him learning about his environment. Hopefully, like the car seat aversion (more on that later) this too, shall pass. On this particular day though, my dad got to hold him for a bit without tears.

Friday night John and I went to meet up with some very dear friends of ours that I used to work with for a BBQ. My friends Cristi and Steve have two BEAUTIFUL children and we had fun snapping some pics. They are just as sweet on the inside as they are on the outside. Here's Tristan and Sydney in action...
Tristan is quite the athlete, he's hanging out on the swing set here.

Mmmmm, Syd thinks the bucket is tasty. ;)

I WISH this picture would have been framed better, but look at little Syd helping John change Miles' diaper. She is going to be four in July and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES babies. She is such a good little mommy! When I brought Miles in the car seat in side, she immediately started to help get him out of his car seat. She makes my heart melt. She told us that evening that she wishes she had 100 babies. So cute! She had already put her baby doll to bed that evening, but they had matching outfits on. Next time I'll have to get a picture of that.

Miles hung in there for a bit before dinner, but slept the rest of the evening while John and I got some very rare adult socializing in. It was an awesome night. Thanks Cristi and Steve for hosting!

Yesterday John and I took our first road trip to Chicago. A friend of ours lost her mother rather quickly to cancer and the memorial service was this weekend. We definitely wanted to be there to support her, so we headed out on our first excursion with Miles. I was pretty nervous about it as Miles has been in a phase where he hates the car seat. The trip took a lot of preparation, planning ahead and baby gear, but we did it and it went really well. Miles was great on the trip. The only slip up was that we should have taken a break before we got on the toll road right before Chicago. He was still asleep and we, being rookie parents, didn't realize we would be pushing our luck to go further. Well, he had been in the car seat for well over three hours and bless his heart, when a cell phone call woke him up, he was, understandably wet and hungry. At this point, we were stuck in memorial day weekend traffic with no site of an exit. So I whipped out a freezing cold bottle of expressed milk I had brought and bless him, he drank it in his car seat. For a baby who always has his milk warmed for him and propped up in a pillow on my lap, he was quite a trooper.

The memorial service, which was beautiful, was packed, so we were in an overflow room, which worked pretty well. People told us that Miles won the good baby award, which made us feel really good. We just watched him like a hawk and reacted to his needs when he asked for them. (This is where being ADD like me and John comes in handy as with a baby, your focus has to be split.) It's crazy, we arrived with a baby who had been just fed and changed, but during the service John and I both had to take him in the restroom three times to change and feed him. Go figure!

During one of my restroom breaks with Miles where I was feeding him, there was a grandmother in there with a baby a couple months older. He was fussy and the grandmother was trying her best to soothe the baby, but I could tell the baby was hungry and being rocked wasn't going to cut it. Another grandmother came in the bathroom to try to help, but he just kept crying louder and louder. I don't know where the mother was, but she didn't leave the grandmas with a bottle. They looked at me in desperation and said, "I wish we had a bottle for this one." (I was nursing Miles at the time.) Something very interesting hap pend as I sat and listened to that baby cry. A year ago, I would have been annoyed at hearing a baby cry like that and impatiently wondered where the baby's mother was. Now, I felt like crying and seriously almost considered offering to nurse that baby, who was now beyond crying and in a meltdown. It felt awful to be able to feed Miles but not help that baby. As soon as Miles was done, I got out of the restroom and I felt sick to my stomach sitting in the overflow room hearing that baby cry as the grandmothers floundered. That baby eventually gave up and stopped crying and after the service, got his bottle, but that ache in my heart I felt when he cried stuck with me all afternoon. It's amazing how being a mother has changed me. There are people who always have that maternal urge, like my friend Amy Conner who children just naturally flock to her. But this is a whole new world to me now and it's an amazing how my eyes and heart have expanded like they have.

The rest of the day John and I juggled baby gear and duties as we weaved our way between the masses of people at the funeral home and then at our friend's extremely elegant home for the post funeral gathering. We would have liked to have stayed longer, but this day was really just about supporting out friend so we headed home after the gathering. Miles ended up being so good for everything and was even great in the car seat. We had probably about 15-20 min. of crying on the way home before he fell asleep, but for the most part Miles and I had a good time in the backseat while John played his new role of "Jeeves" the chauffeur.

Driving home we had some of the hardest and darkest rain we have seen in a long time. It made the long drive even longer and was pretty scary. (Very scary for me as I'm a new paranoid mom.) We ended up getting home around midnight and Miles went right from car seat to crib and slept the rest of the night.

So we are ready for our next road trip. We are hoping to get to Ann Arbor soon for a little getaway. The bonus of that will be to get Miles swimming for the first time. We haven't been to Ann Arbor since our "babymoon" this past fall and we have always looked forward to the day when we can take our little baby up there for the trip as well.

This is a super long blog, so I'll shush now! Have a great memorial Day everybody. Be safe, there are some NUTTY drivers out there!

I'm a blog slacker!

Have I not posted a blog since Tuesday? Goodness, where has the week gone? Well, no new pics tonight, but hopefully soon. John's computer is rendering a video this evening and that takes most of it's juice, so none tonight. (I need my own Mac! Ugh!)

Some news....John has sold yet ANOTHER show! That makes for a total of 8! This is super exciting. I tell you what though, I'm not looking forward to when he starts writing his next show. It takes a TON of time and it's a very long process and I have to force myself to be good and not bug him, which is hard for me. We have built a door on his office, but we didn't install locks on it which was dumb. I can still just barge in and bug him. So I'll have to work on being good so he can focus.

What else? Well, I have been shooting lots of video clips lately, so I'm going to try to start posting little video clips set to music. Again, I need my own Mac so I can do this. In the meantime, check out a blooper reel we did from some footage we had left over from a Mother's Day video we made of Miles: Click here for video clip

If you can't view the clip, go to More Options for Video Clip

I just watched it and Miles has changed SO MUCH from the video clip. I can't wait to post more pics. I need to go to bed now though, so nighty night!

Tuesday jumpin...

Once the sun was low enough in the sky and the temp. cooled a bit this evening, we took Miles outside to enjoy the trampoline for the first time. We laid a blanket on the trampoline and I gently bounced with him and he LOVED it.

Lovin' the bounces!

Mom steals a kiss...

Today it was John's turn for a photo shoot in the trees. Miles is still intrigued by the leaves, as you can see.

John's not good at hiding his enthusiasm on being a father.... ; )

The weather has been awesome, but our early morning walks are still a bit chilly. Here's Miles in his morning walk gear before getting loaded into the Baby Bjorn. I actually miss the cold weather becuase it's fun to bundle him up in cute clothes. (I still haven't gotten out of the house to go summer clothes shopping. Though honestly, since he is a hot blooded kid, onsies are pretty much what he likes to wear anyway.)

For more photos, go to John's blog: John's Blog

Today was a great day. Miles was in an awesome mood and we played and sang alot. He LOVES it when I sing songs and for some reason, he thought it was hilarious when I played this simple game of, "This is my mouth, this is your mouth." I would just say that in a sing songy way and point to my mouth and then tap on his. He would just giggle, smile and coo like crazy when I played that little game. It's fun when I think of simple little things that make him happy.

I didn't get much done around the house, but I definitly got in lots of Miles time. John is such great hubby. Whenever I get frustrated that the end of the day has come and I didn't get cleaning done or something else I needed to do, he reminds me that my #1 job of the day is caring for Miles and that if I did a good job at that, that's all that matters. When I was pregnant, he would tell me the same thing, "Who cares if you didn't get the floors cleaned, you were working hard growing a baby." Love him!!!

Miles' biggest thing lately is he is getting very easily distracted when he nurses. I was reading a magazine today and the sound of the pages turning must have distracted him because he kept pausing and looking at the magazine and then at me like, "Excuse me, focus please!" Then I was snacking on some cookies while I was nursing him (I'm hungry allll the time) and the rustle of the box totally distracted him. If John walks in and starts talking Miles has to stop eating and turn his head to listen. Of course he likes to pause when he's eating to smile at me and coo and it melts my heart. John fed him a bottle yesterday and he was flipping out at how cute it is when Miles pauses to smile and look up at you with the bottle's nipple in his mouth. I had tried to explain that to John before, but you just can't understand how cute it is until you experience it. (That's a photo we won't be posting on the blog!) ; )

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for tuning in!

Ahhh, Trees

Today I needed to go grocery shopping as we have had no food in the house. We had pretty much gotten down to a can of cream of mushroom soup and some random granola bars. I've been dodging grocery shopping for a while as Miles hasn't been a fan of the carseat. I've been putting him in it as much as possible though, including some walks in the stroller as a sort of "immersion therapy." He actually does seem to be getting better and hopefully he's on his way out of the carseat hating phase. I'm hoping he does because I want to be able to enjoy this time that he is portable. Anyway, John knows that I loathe grocery shopping and I was starting to get hungry by the time I had decided to venture out (the dreaded 5:00 PM grocery shopping timeslot) so he offered to take me out to dinner and then help me shop. That was a really cool special treat for a Monday evening as we try to eat out just once a week. (Part of the stay at home mom budgeting we have set up.) So John and I had a mini date and went out for Mexican food. Miles was great in the car (Thank god for resteraunts within minutes of the house), the food was quick and awesome and John and I traded off feeding Miles a bottle at the table. We had a great time and even talked about non-baby things, which considering we are both in the house together all day long, that's a pretty big feat.

It was fitting we went out because we did have something to celebrate as we found out today that Marching Show Concepts has sold SEVEN of the original marching band shows that John has composed. This is a huge deal as this was his first attempt to compose a show this year and we were just hoping he would sell one, let alone 7! Yippee!! He could sell even more too before this season is over! This is super exciting stuff and I'm so proud of him. He has some ideas for next year's show, but I'll let him blog all about that.

So after dinner and some grocery shopping (Where Miles was a super happy baby) we came home and went for our nightly walk. During the walk we noticed Miles' eyes would get really wide when we went under trees, so we spent some time checking out the trees in our yard and snapped some pics. (See above and below)
This photo shows John's favorite hairdo of mine. I call this style (if you can call it a style) cubby ears. I look like a 30 year old trying to look like a 15 year old with my hair like this, but it's so easy and comfy, that I don't care. I grew up looking like Ralph Machio (you think I lie. I could have been his stunt double, complete with short feathered hair and a dark 80's tan) so as an adult I really don't know what to do with long hair. Hence the cubby ears. I think it's funny that John loves my hair like that the best. He's such a simple, easy to please guy. : )

Here's Miles after one of our morning walks this past weekend. He gets hungry on the walks sometimes and munches on daddy's finger. We love our baby Bjorn and so does Miles. When we put him in it he gets all excited now and we actually got a giggle this morning when John put him in it. SO MUCH FUN!! His giggles are the cutest thing EVER to us.

It was a little chilly this weekend, so we busted out the Robeez shoes during a couple walks in the Bjorn carrier. John had gotten these shoes for me/us for Christmas and I finally got a chance to put them on him. Had to snap a pic, of course!

Miles was a bit too sleepy here for a good photo shoot, but of course, we tried. We have a new nickname for him, "Bubby", and his face really looks "bubby-ish" to me here. (That probably makes no sense to you, but it does to me.)

He has many nicknames as John and I just weird like that. Here are few so far:
-Miley
-Mylecon (yes, that's a baby tummy medicine, but it also sounds like a name a Transformer would have and since we are both nerds, it stuck.)
-Milex (that would be a typo I wrote in a sleep deprived state late one night and it has stuck as a funny name.)
-Smiles
-Smiley
-Milo...the list could go on. The poor child probably won't know what his name is until he is five becuase we call him so many different things.

Miles still loves the bouncer. I had him in John's office yesterday morning while I hopped online and the light was so killer coming in from the window.

You know, when we chose this obnoxious bouncer I knew I would want to photograph him in it but the crazy print on the bouncer would drive me nuts. And it is. I have 18 zillion photographs of him next to a cartoon tiger and parrot. Oh well. He loves the funky toy bar that goes with it, so it's all good.

I better go to bed now. Nighty night!

Miles won his first contest!!

For Mother's Day this week, Cotton Babies, the makers of our cloth diapers, did a little photo contest looking for cute babies in their BumGenius cloth diapers. The prize was a baby carrier or a diaper for honorable mention. Well, of course I had to jump right on it. I didn't think we would win becuase A.) most people who cloth diaper are stay at home mom's obsessed with the net like me, so I knew there would be alot of entries and B.) the photo we sent in didn't show the diaper very much. But I figured I would give it a try.

We didn't win first prize, but we did get honorable mention and won another diaper to add to our stash. How fun!! The winner's pic is ADORABLE and it's really fun to see the other babies. So check it out, the babies are really cute and of course you gotta check out our guy Miles. ;)

Mother's Day lunch...

This was a picture I should have added a couple of posts ago, but found it today and wanted to add it. It's a good pic to post today because we spent alot of time doing what this photo shows, him sitting on my lap while we "chat." It's my favorite thing we do.

Here are a few photos from the Mother's Day lunch I hosted. I was pretty busy that day so I didn't do a good job of capturing many photos of the event. Here is my sister in law, Jenni with Miles and then my brother and mom with Miles. He wasn't so happy as you can see, but that didn't dampen the party mood. Luckily, Miles' moods pass pretty quickly and a good day was had by all.

I better go. I put Miles to bed pretty awake tonight in the hopes he could get himself to sleep, but I think he's going to need some help. I just tried putting this thing that plays ocean sounds and has mechanical swimming fish (we call it the "fish tv") in his crib and that seemed to help but it doesn't stay on long enough to really be a help because he's starting to fuss. I better go see what he needs.

...Well, I spoke too soon. Before I could get up to the nursery, he's quiet now, so I guess either the "fish tv" worked or he is happy to suck his fingers. Oh, that reminds me, he has moved on from sucking his thumb to sucking on his two middle fingers now.

That's the latest. Tomorrow is Wed., so wish me luck that I can make it to the mom group!

Evil mayo....

Today started out to be a great day. It was beautiful and sunny, I had lots of energy from my great weekend and I was looking forward to getting lots done today. Perhaps even baking something, which Miles seldom gives me the time to do. However, I was optimistic today. Then, I ate some of the macaroni salad I had made from this past weekend's Mother's day lunch I hosted and totally forgot that it had sat on the table all afternoon before we put it back in the fridge. (Duh, don't ask me why it ended up back in the fridge.) Well, I was running around taking care of Miles during the party so kind of forgot how the salad had been sitting out. Anyway, I was hungry this morning and grazing on the closest thing I could find, as I typically do, and I had some of the salad as a mid morning snack. A couple of hours later it hit me that something was not right-AT ALL. I ended up getting pretty sick from the bad pasta salad and John, bless him, took over for me for the afternoon. Thank GOD John was able to help me out because honestly, I don't know how I would have juggled both Miles and my stomach "situation." I tell you, there's nothing like writhing on the bed in pain, staring out the window at a beautiful day cursing yourself for being dumb enough to eat bad pasta salad. It's definitely not in my top 5 ways to spend an afternoon.

So that story is probably TMI (Too much information) but hey, it's what Life with Miles, or at least Life with Bad Pasta Salad was like for me today. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow to start over with this week. I'm so glad Miles was so good for Daddy and of course, John was awesome at caring for him. I feel really blessed that John is as involved as he is. I think there are some guys out there who wouldn't be so inclined to take over or half as good at caring for Miles as he is. He mentioned on my Mother's Day card at how being a mom is the hardest job there is. I am not at the hard part yet. I guess that comes when they start throwing tantrums or something. (The hardest part is balancing a social life, but that's another blog for another day.) Anyway, a big part of that is because parenting is such a partnership with John. The only reason it's not 50/50 is because he can't breastfeed. So a HUGE thank you goes out to John for not even batting an eyelash when I handed Miles over to him today and headed to bed.

For those of you who tune into this blog to hear about Miles and not the intricacies of my day, he's doing great. He's getting into a more predictable sleeping schedule with a morning and afternoon nap and going to bed between 8:30 and 9 PM. Life has been pretty good. I wonder how long this sleep schedule will last. My ears are always perking up when I hear other parents talk about sleep schedules because I keep wondering if I"m doing it right. Things appear to be going well. He's gabbing up a storm and we are starting to hear more and more of the elusive giggles that are the cutest things ever.

My First Mother's Day

I had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day today. It was the best Mother's Day I could ever ask for. The morning started out with a full night's sleep and then waking up to a homemade card from John.

John doesn't know that I jumped on his computer, but I found the card in his photoshop file and I had to share it. Here is the front of the card (I hope you can read the small print:)

and the inside of the card:

I think that is the most creative and precious card! I am going to put it in Miles' baby book. John then surprised me with the news that the pugs had an appt. to get groomed later that afternoon, something I have been wanting to do because they are super stinky and verrrry sheddy since it's spring. So he splurged on the "top dog" treatment for them. THEN, he told me that he has arranged for a professional house cleaning crew to come in this week and do a deep clean on our house. THANK THE LORD! I haven't done a deep clean on my house since my baby shower this past December and even then I about killed myself. So I have been treading water since then trying to get a chance to really clean the house. (hasn't happend) I am excited about having a crew come in and get me back to a clean house so I can try to keep it that way. It's REALLY been bugging me how dirty my house has been and with the c-section and everything, I got wayyy behind. So yipppee!

After John gave me my gifts, we spent the morning reading the paper and playing with Miles, and then we headed to the New World cafe at the natural grocery store for lunch. (they have live music on Sundays) We had a nice lunch and then headed back home to feed Miles and get the pugs ready for their grooming session. We did some shopping with Miles too and he was great minus the fact that he hates the car seat. It's a phase he is in that I'm hoping will pass soon.

Once we got home and fed Miles he slept for 5 hours this evening while John and I just hung out and enjoyed the beautiful evening. One last indulgance John did for me for Mother's Day was we sat down and loaded in a bunch of photos, resized them and ordered them online for Miles' baby book. We also loaded in the images our friend Bobbi did for us and ordered prints of those as well. So I'm excited to get the prints captured off the computer and start putting them in place in his book. I'm not a big scrapbooker, but I do want to at least get the important stuff down in a book for Miles to have someday.

Well, it's late so I better shush. I hope everybody had a wonderful Mother's Day. I had no idea how great today would be. I just felt wonderful and happy all day. John and Miles did an awesome job of making me feel so loved. I took a little walk this evening by myself with the pugs and I just thanked God over and over for the blessings of my precious family and our health. I am loving my new role of Mom!

PS I will have some pics up soon of our Mother's Day celebreation with my mom on Saturday...

PPS We made a really fun video set to music of our life with Miles for our parents and it was a hit. I'm hoping to post the blooper reel on my blog soon. So stay tuned!

John and I take lots of walks, so this is how Miles "rides" during most of our walks. He rests his mouth on the front of the baby Bjorn carrier and proceeds to suck or what I call "nuk" during the walk until he falls asleep. He looks pretty much exactly like a cabbage patch kid.

Yesterday Miles was in a great mood so John and I worked on some tummy time with him. He's getting so much stronger and starting to show signs of working towards rolling over. Of course, the lighting coming in from the loft window was so great, we couldn't resist getting out the camera. Plus I love taking pics of him in just his cloth diaper. I tell you, taking photos of Miles has become one of our favorite past times.

This one cracked me up. Extreme close up!

While John and I were snapping pics of Miles, Whisper randomly decided to roll over and pose for us. She waited patiently for us to notice and capture this quirky pic. I remember people warning me that I better not forget my pugs once Miles was born. Not a chance! We have so much fun with all of our babies now. The pugs are still such a big part of our little family. They will always be our first born and the ones that broke me in on learning responsibility so I would be prepared (ok, not prepared, but a bit more understanding of taking care of another being) for a baby.

Today I had a Mother's Day lunch for my family and it was a really nice day. This afternoon after everybody left we just hung out and did nothing. It was AWESOME. We took Miles out in the back yard and we blew bubbles, jumped on the trampoline (see below) and threw the ball for the pugs. We usually jam pack our weekends so it has been super nice to just chill out and spend time together. John is locked in his office right now presumably working on something for me for Mother's Day. Exciting!

Below is a photo of my only jump on the trampoline last summer. I was about two-three months pregnant or so in this photo and wanted to get one last jump in before I swore off the trampoline. Well, the trampoline is back up and I'm THRILLED to be back on it in full jumping ability. Yipeee! It may be a while until I can get back my pefect "herkie" form however. I 'll be working on it though along with my toe touches and abstracts. (Go Chargers!)

BTW, I'm sending out a big thank you to Jennifer who sent me my very first Mother's Day card. Thank you so much and Happy First Mother's day to you! She became a mom about ten days before I did. She's the best but lives much too far away. Check out her blog at: Evan Tales
I don't have any pics of her baby Evan with Miles, but here's a blast from this past November of us at her baby shower. Her sister Susan is on the left and that's Jen in the middle. Those girls were my next door neighbors since I was like 4 years old or something so they are very dear to my heart and they know wayyyyyy too much about me! I'm hoping someday we'll be neighbors again, though for now the internet will have to do.

Happy early Mother's day. I'm sure I'll having something posted tomorrow, but I thought I would make sure I got a greeting in to all of the mom's out there (and mom's "to be" Miss Linsday!) and of course to my own mother. Love you lots!

It's late, so I don't have a lot of time to write, but these last couple of days have been pretty good. Miles has been sleeping from around 9:30 in the evening until around 6 AM or so, which is AWESOME. He's been killing me with his smiles and giggles. His cheeks are so squishy, that as you can see from this photo, I can't help but give him TONS of kisses!

Tomorrow, I'm hosting a Mother's Day lunch for my mom and my side of the family. I made a huge batch of chicken salad this afternoon and got some really yummy croissants to put them on, so hopefully everybody will enjoy them and it will be a nice day. We just put the trampoline up (in the dark) tonight, so Miles' cousins should enjoy breaking it in for the season.

I gotta get to bed. We took some AWESOME pics today, but I'm saving those for my next post. So stay tuned!

Wednesday, May 09, 2007

Today is Wednesday and every Wednesday for the last couple months I have been trying to go to a Mom 2 Mom group at the hospital. For some reason, Wednesday's have been busy with social stuff popping up or right as I would get ready to walk out the door, Miles would need to eat and we would end up staying home. So today, I was determined to go.

Things were looking good for us going today. I was actually dressed, hair (pretty much) done and Miles had eaten within about the last hour and a half so he should have been good to go. Just as I was packing the diaper bag he started to cry. So I changed him, burped him and nothing helped. So as I watched the clock inch closer to the time the group meets, I settled into the glider to feed him. So yet again, we didn't make it to the mom 2 mom group. Ugh. That's the thing about breastfeeding though. I can try to figure out his schedule as much as I can, but honestly, It's really up to him to tell me when he's hungry and that tends to change from day to day a bit. So even though he went three hours in between feedings earlier this morning, he only gave me an hour and a half between his next feeding. I guess I need to start working on being a better mind reader.

So I didn't get to my group, but at least I got to go on a walk during John's lunch hour with Miles and the pugs. It was a nice long walk and just as we turned around to go home, we felt a drop of rain. No sooner had I pulled the shade down on the stroller did the heavens open up and just start POURING rain. Here we were with our pugs, our baby in the stroller, and at the farthest point of our walk in a downpour. So I start to run, which is interesting as I am totally out of shape and wearing flip flops. Amazingly, Miles stayed dry, minus some splashes on his toes though John and I looked like we just stepped off the log ride at Cedar Point. The stroller actually had pools of water on it's hood and cup holders, but it did a great job of protecting him. Guess it was worth the $300 bucks afterall! ; ) The rain was at least nice and warm and it all wouldn't have been so bad if our pugs didn't stink to high heaven once we were inside!

So that was my day. A missed group (again) and a rained out walk. I have to hand it my friends out there who can actually get up in the morning and get their kids to day care and themselves off to work on time. I suck. I can't even make it to ONE meeting once a week! In the middle of the day! I would love to hear how those of you with babies out there can get to appts., meetings or work when you have a little one on his own schedule.

I do have to say that even though I didn't get out of the house today that Miles has just been so much fun. I am loving the third month. His personality is really coming out more and more and it's fun to see what new thing he's going to do next. It's fun to hear about Mother's Day coming up to. It's so weird that that holiday is now for me too! I keep getting all of these emails about Mother's day with cute little stories about kids and it's amazing how differently those effect me now that I'm a mom. I'm sure the changes in me have only just begun.

Saturday date night

Saturday night John and I left Miles for our first extended babysitting session (4 whole hours) with Grandma to attend a wedding reception. All went well and my dress even fit from the beginning of the night to the end. (If you have ever breastfed you know what my worry was...)

None of the pics taken of me and John together came out, but here is me and my good friend Renee.

John and I got some swing dancing in. I left my ballroom shoes at home, but next wedding, I am totally busting them out. It's torture on the feet to try to dance in heel-less shoes. That's my friend Renee with her husband Ed off to the right. We were so glad they were at the wedding. We always have a blast with them.

Once we got some dancing in and some cake, we left the happy couple to head home to see our little guy. He was good for Grandma who did a great job of caring for him. As you can see, he was tuckered out from all of her lovin and he was ready for bed. Not before we got some snuggles in and snapped some pics though!

Miles looks like his cousin Noah here, doesn't he?

Question: So now that's is hot out, I'm having a hard time dressing Miles in stuff where he doesn't get overheated. Because he was a winter baby, I have lots of heavy clothes to put him in but running short on some lighter stuff. So I need to go shopping for some summer stuff. If any of you have "hot blooded" babies out there, send me some tips on what brand of clothing or store or whatever has good lightweight summer clothes. I need to figure something out because when I take him out in his carseat he gets really hot and that, of course, leads to a meltdown (literally) while I'm driving, which really is not fun. So email me or leave a comment if you have suggestions.

Well, looking at these sleeping baby pics reminds me that it's time for bed. John has already been in bed for a couple of hours. He's been super tired as he has been working his butt off lately. Usually he would still be working away, but I sent him to bed with the pugs (a special treat)early and I think it's time to do the same.

Nighty night!

The mirror and the mobile are the latest and greatest things going on for Miles. He loves checking himself out in the mirror and batting at the stuff on it. He's been grabbing for things more and more too. It's really getting to be alot of fun playing with Miles now.

I haven't written much on the blog, but I will soon. I've been hoping the pics have kept everyone interested. I've been busy and pretty tired these past few days. John and I got out this past weekend for a wedding reception and left Miles for a whole 4 hours with my mom. It was really nice to get away and it felt good to get dressed up too. We even got some swing dancing in, which just proved that were are VERY rusty and a bit out of shape. We love to dance though, so we were excited when they busted out the big band stuff. I'll blog and add pics of that later. I also need to add some more of the awesome pics my friend Bobbi took, so I have much to do. For now, sleep is the main goal.

Love ya!
